Why Canada

Canadian companies buy back stock through normal course issuer bids, every year, quietly. The share counts sit in annual reports and information forms that US screens rarely read. Canada Radar reads them and checks every company by hand.

Sources: the companies’ annual reports and annual information forms, and for companies that also file with the US Securities and Exchange Commission their 40-F, 20-F or 10-K reports. Shares outstanding are issued shares minus shares held in treasury at each fiscal year end, all classes of common shares together, restated for splits. Every company in the list was checked by hand against its own reports.
